Ongoing Projects

Modern Times’ artistic aesthetic is inspired by company values that we have emulated in our creative process since the foundation of the company in 1989. Our commitment to these principals has led us to develop projects that over the years have directly impacted our community, locally and internationally.

The Youth Theatre Unit

Modern Times Stage Company's Youth Theatre Unit is a seasonal education program that provides eight young people the unique opportunity to develop their own theatrical presentation under the guidance of Modern Times' mentorship. Integrated with the company's professional activities, participants from diverse backgrounds also experience the development process of Modern Times, by attending and participating in rehearsals and workshops throughout the year. Throughout the season, participants become increasingly self-reliant in the creation of their own work, which will culminate in a public workshop performance.  Previous YTUs...

The Dialogues Project

Based on the company's vision of theatre of creating dialogue between differing cultures and points of view, The Dialogues Project is an international theatre project in which members of Modern Times creative team collaborate with theatre artists in areas of the world affected by conflict. The company uses one of its award-winning productions, Aurash, a humanist fable about a borderless world.
